Where do you want to go a month from now? 6 months from now? A year from now? How are you going to get there? As you look forward, here is a sample approach to goal-setting adapted from Brian Tracey:
- Identify 10 goals for the next 3/6/12 months.
- Write them down in present tense and 1st person singular, e.g., I weigh, or I earn …
- Phrase the goals in positive terms.
- Remind yourself: I am what I do – not what I say or intend.
- Select one goal that would have the greatest impact on achieving your major, definite purpose.
- Write that goal down.
- Set a deadline.
- Identify obstacles.
- Identify required information.
- Prioritize your goals.
- Make a plan for reaching your goals.
- Take action.
- Visualize goal as reality.
- Resolve never to give up.
- Failure is not an option.
