Where do you want to go a month from now?  6 months from now?  A year from now?  How are you going to get there?  As you look forward, here is a sample approach to goal-setting adapted from Brian Tracey:

  • Identify 10 goals for the next 3/6/12 months.
  • Write them down in present tense and 1st person singular, e.g., I weigh, or I earn …
  • Phrase the goals in positive terms.
  • Remind yourself:  I am what I do – not what I say or intend.
  • Select one goal that would have the greatest impact on achieving your major, definite purpose.
  • Write that goal down.
  • Set a deadline.
  • Identify obstacles.
  • Identify required information.
  • Prioritize your goals.
  • Make a plan for reaching your goals.
  • Take action.
  • Visualize goal as reality.
  • Resolve never to give up.
  • Failure is not an option.
